Discussion:
What does the Guardian have to say about your "House of Justice?"

The Guardian of the Cause of God has used these words to describe the
body that calls itself the Universal House of Justice and to which you
shamefully bear allegiance:

"an illegitimate and illicitly formed Universal House of Justice,
foisted upon the Bahá'í World by the former Hands of the Cause"
http://www.bahai-guardian.com/delusion.html

"a man-made, corrupted and imperfect, sans-Guardian organization
erected by you as a disfigured substitute for the divinely-conceived
Order bequeathed to us by 'Abdu'l-Bahá"
http://www.bahai-guardian.com/directing.html

"a fallible, deformed and incomplete organization clearly outside the
provisions of the Will and Testament" and an "illicitly formed headless
body"
http://www.bahai-guardian.com/mariner.html

"a single highly defective and incomplete pillar."
http://www.bahai-guardian.com/diabolical.html

"a man-made, deformed and pitiful replica that has been substituted for
the God-given and divinely-conceived Baha'i Administrative Order
delineated by 'Abdu'l-Bahá."
http://www.bahai-guardian.com/satanic.html

"an illegitimate nondescript administrative body pretending to be the
Universal House of Justice of the Baha'i Faith and nothing more than a
headless caricature of the divinely-conceived and immortal institution
bequeathed to us by the "Center of the Covenant
....
Certainly, this illicitly formed and hideously deformed body passing
itself off as the Universal House of Justice bears no resemblance to
the divinely-conceived supreme administrative institution of the
Bahá'í Administrative Order delineated by 'Abdu'l-Bahá in His
Will and Testament, with the Guardian of the Cause of God presiding as
its "sacred head," nor can this illegitimate headless body ever be
rightfully recognized as constituting any part of the
divinely-appointed "System" which Shoghi Effendi has assured us in
the "Dispensation of Bahá'u'lláh" is founded on "God's
immutable Purpose for mankind in this day." It is therefore
inevitably and ingloriously doomed to an ignominious end."

Dear all,
Post by c***@truebahai.com
The Guardian of the Cause of God has used these words to describe the
body that calls itself the Universal House of Justice and to which you
There is an element of love that heterodox Baha'is express in their
veneration to the headless Universal House of Justice. Though its
justifications are quite debatable, a heterodox Baha'is, if he
carefully reads the Baha'i writings and those of Shoghi Effendi, can
discern the falsity of its foundation.

That veneration, however perverse as it may be, is expressed in the
words of the first Guardian on the importance of *really* loving the
Baha'i institutions. *Without the spirit of real love for Baha'u'llah,
for His Faith and its Institutions, and the believers for each other,
the Cause can never really bring in large numbers of people. For it is
not preaching and rules that the world wants, but love and action.* (25
October, 1949, Written on behalf of Shoghi Effendi to an individual
believer).

The answer to that illusory love is the Love of the Covenant as
`Abdu'l-Baha enjoined the first believers of Europe:

*Now make an effort and enkindle the Fire of the Love of the covenant
with the utmost power so that Paris may become superior to other
regions. And if the Covenant become ablaze in a becoming and befitting
manner, in a short time wonderful traces will become manifest.* Another
translation: *Now, make an effort, and with all your might enkindle the
fire of love of the Covenant, so that Paris may surpass the other
regions; and if the Covenant is made to shine forth as it should, in a
short time wonderful results will become apparent; for, in this day,
the moving power throughout the whole world is the power of the
Covenant: it is the artery pulsating in the body of the phenomenal.*

I think Orthodox Baha'is bear a very heavy responsibility in clearly
explaining who the Center of the Cause is. We, followers of Mason Remey
and Joel Bray Marangella, may be as guilty as the ones who refuse the
authority of the twin pillars of the Administrative Order in lacking in
correctly defending the Orthodox Baha'i Faith, thoughfully knowing its
main arguments and even more importantly simply living a spiritual way.

*He hopes that you will develop into Baha'i in character as well as in
belief. The whole purpose of Baha'u'llah is that we should become a new
kind of people, people who are upright, kind, intelligent, truthful,
and honest and who live according to His great laws laid down for this
new epoch in man's development. To call ourselves Baha'is is not
enough, our inmost being must become ennobled and enlightened through
living a Baha'i life.*

Dear Martin,

It does appear that the emphasis of all Baha'is, heterodox or orthodox,
is on administrative structures rather than the more fundamental
purpose of religion, which is the mystical union of the soul with God,
living a life of loving-kindness to all, and service to humanity.

The Baha'i religion is different from others in the past, in that God
has revealed the administrative structure of His Cause and has not left
it up to the followers of the faith. That, of course, is what we are
always harping upon. The Baha'i religion is also different in that the
relationship between the individual and soul and God is left to the
individual. There are no clergy. There are no established methods of
meditiation. Prayer is an individual responsibility and not a
congregational one. The individual is free to create (or not) his
spiritual life as he or she sees fit. That is why there is an
appearance that we have no emphasis on the spiritual aspects of our
religion.

However, the administrative structure of the Cause is very important to
the health and growth of the individual souls because by placing
oneself in harmony with the Administrative Order, it allows the
spiritual power of the Cause to flow. This Order creates God-given
societal structures that encourage, support, and allow the flow of
spirituality to its members.

That is why, being firm in the Covenant is so important to the
spiritual growth of the individual Baha'i, and to the whole world.

Ross,

Of course I also like your description of that body as a "contraption."
